Environmental Initiatives
Moore monitors the cleaning industry, initiatives, legislation and standards, liaising with peers, service partners and industry bodies, to keep up to date with improvements and changes in philosophy, style and content.
With the environment at the heart of our strategic planning, we have significantly improved our environmental performance over the last six years by:
- Replacing toxic cleaning supplies to protect workers, land and water
- Promoting daytime cleaning to reduce night-time energy use in buildings
- Segregation of Waste – by introducing different bins and systems, we achieved a higher recycle rate on waste materials
- Elimination of Waste Bins – by eliminating waste bins onsite we can increase productivity of our cleaning staff, reducing costs and encouraging the recycling of waste materials
We have introduced a variety of products and equipment that can be used to limit the environmental impact:
- E-motion towel dispensers
- Eco-friendly paper products and Coreless toilets rolls
- Microfibre cloths, floor cloths and wipes (uses less or no chemicals)
- Use of “magic sponges” or scrubber driers using neutral chemicals for hard floor cleaning
- Use of concentrates to limit the amount of chemical and plastic waste
- Bio-degradable bags are used across all sites
- Equipping sites with HEPA filter vacuums, which works by forcing air through a fine mesh that traps harmful particles such as pollen, pet dander, dust mites, and tobacco smoke and are more environmentally friendly
- We recently upgraded our reach and wash pole method of window cleaning; further reducing waste of water and removing the requirement for chemicals. The apparatus is made of light weight carbon thus allowing a higher reach and negating the need for expensive polluting machinery in many cases
- Introducing tablets and smart phones on sites as part of our ISO 14001 environmental management system, reducing the reliance on paper
- All invoices, statements, reports and quotations emailed to clients, where appropriate
